Rhode Island family will host a golf tournament for Ehlers Danlos research

WARWICK — A Glocester, Rhode Island, family with ties to Portsmouth will be hosting a golf tournament Monday at Valley Country Club in Warwick, to support research for a disease called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, symbolized by the zebra, is a rare genetic disorder affecting the body’s connective tissue such as the skin, joints and blood vessel walls.

In the United States, there are fewer than 200,000 cases of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome diagnosed per year, so when Michael and Katelyn Callahan’s son Chase was diagnosed with it three years ago in infancy, the two were stunned.  Read More
